PUPIN’S AUTOBIOGRAPHY ON AIR SERBIA FLIGHTS

Air Serbia, the national airline of the Republic of Serbia, in partnership with the Belgrade Institute for Textbook Publishing, printed the autobiography of one of the world’s most important scientists, Mihajlo Pupin, entitled: “From Immigrant to Inventor”. The book was first published in 1923 in New York, in English, and it won the Pulitzer Prize in 1924. The latest edition of the book is available in Serbian and English, and it will be available onboard Air Serbia’s aircraft sporting the image of the renowned scientist, in national airline’s offices in Belvil and near the St Mark’s Church in Belgrade, as well as the Air Serbia Premium Lounge at the Belgrade Airport.

“It has been just over a month since the arrival of the second wide-body A330-200, carrying the name and image of the great scientist, Mihajlo Pupin. In this way, our airline wanted to pay homage to one of the greatest minds and best professors of electrical engineering of all time, who never forgot his Serbian roots and his homeland. The cover of Pupin’s autobiography that we recently printed is visually similar to the airplane’s tail. There is a certain connection between Pupin and Air Serbia. Namely, just like Pupin connected the entire world with his discoveries, the Serbian national carrier, with its network of destinations, aims to bring the world closer to its passengers,” said Boško Rupić, General Manager Commercial and Strategy, Air Serbia.

The book “From Immigrant to Inventor” is a true story about a Serbian shepherd from the small village of Idvor, who became one of the harbingers of the telecommunications era. Translated by M. Jevtić, the book was first published in Serbia in 1929, by Matica srpska in Novi Sad. The new edition of the book was printed in Serbian and English as a limited series of 500 copies in both languages.
